Brownsburg Town Court

The Brownsburg Town Court is physically located at 31 N Green Street inside the Brownsburg Police Department building. Phone is 317-852-1192. The probation office has a separate line at 317-858-6006.

Office hours for the court clerk are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday is a short day: the office is open from 9 a.m. to noon, then closes in the afternoon for court sessions. Court sessions run on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. There is no court on the fifth Wednesday of a month.

The Town Court handles traffic infractions and local ordinance violations issued in Brownsburg. State criminal misdemeanors do not go to Town Court. Those go to the Hendricks County courts in Danville. If your ticket shows a county court name at the top, you need to contact Hendricks County instead. The court clerk at 317-852-1192 can tell you quickly which court has your case.

The court was created specifically to keep Brownsburg traffic and ordinance cases local rather than routing them all through the busier county system. This generally means faster resolution and a local point of contact for residents.

How to Search Brownsburg Traffic Ticket Records

Indiana's MyCase portal is the free, public tool for finding court records. It covers all Brownsburg Town Court cases.

Start at https://public.courts.in.gov/mycase. You can search by name and date of birth or by case number. The system shows charges, filing dates, hearing dates, and current status. Under IC 5-14-3, Indiana's Access to Public Records Act, these records are open to anyone at no cost.

One key thing to know about Brownsburg tickets: they take 3 to 5 business days to show up in the system after you receive them. If you search and get no results right away, wait a few days before trying again. Once the ticket is filed with the court, it appears in MyCase automatically. If it still doesn't show after a week, call 317-852-1192 and give them your ticket number to confirm it has been processed.

The Indiana MyCase portal is shown in the screenshot below. This is the statewide case lookup tool used by all 92 Indiana counties, including Hendricks County and Brownsburg Town Court.

Search results from MyCase show the court name (look for Brownsburg Town Court), the charges filed, any upcoming court dates, and whether the case has been closed. If your ticket is listed as an infraction, you can usually resolve it without a court appearance by paying or applying for deferral. If it is listed as a misdemeanor, you will need to appear.

How to Pay a Brownsburg Traffic Ticket

Brownsburg Town Court has three ways to pay: online, in person, and by phone with a credit card through the court. Each method has some differences to know.

Online: The town has its own payment page at https://www.brownsburg.org/233/Payments. You can also use the Indiana Judicial Branch payment portal at https://public.courts.in.gov/pay/. Both accept credit and debit cards. Online payments post within a day or two.

In person: Visit 31 N Green Street during office hours. The court accepts cash, money orders, and certified checks in person. They do not accept personal checks. Bring your ticket number or case number. Wednesday afternoon (after noon) is court session time, so the clerk's office is closed for business then.

Credit card by phone: Call the court at 317-852-1192 and ask for the case number and payment location code. The staff will give you the information you need to complete an online card payment if you're having trouble doing it on your own.

The due date on your ticket gives you a deadline to respond. After that date, your case may go to default judgment. Indiana law under IC 9-30-10 allows for license suspension when a driver fails to comply with a traffic citation. Don't let the date pass without taking action, even if you are still deciding what to do. Call the court and ask for options if you need more time.

Deferral Program and Contesting a Ticket

Brownsburg Town Court offers two paths for drivers who don't want a violation on their driving record: the deferral program and contesting the ticket in court.

For state traffic infractions, the deferral program is run through the Hendricks County Prosecutor's Office. Email hcpotraffic@co.hendricks.in.us to ask about your eligibility. Not all violations qualify, and there is typically a fee involved. If you are approved, you pay the deferral fee and agree to keep a clean record for a set period. If you do, the original violation does not go on your permanent driving record.

For local ordinance violations, deferral is handled through the Town Attorney at 317-237-3833. The process is similar but applies specifically to town-level ordinance violations rather than state infractions.

To contest the ticket outright, you deny the violation and request a court date. Wednesday court sessions at 1 p.m. are when hearings take place. You appear before the judge, present your case, and the officer who wrote the ticket may also appear. If you have evidence that the citation was issued in error, bring it. Photos, dashcam video, and witness information can all help your case.

Speed violations fall under IC 9-21-5. Indiana uses absolute speed limits, so any speed above the posted limit is a violation. If your ticket is for OWI under IC 9-30-5, that is a criminal matter and will go to county court, not Town Court.

Driving Record and BMV Points

Indiana tracks points on your driving record through the BMV. Each moving violation conviction adds points. Minor speeding adds 2 points. More serious violations like reckless driving add 6 to 8 points. Reaching 18 points within two years leads to license suspension.

After a conviction in Brownsburg Town Court, the court sends the record to the BMV. The BMV updates your driving history within a few weeks. You can check your current point total at mybmv.com. A certified driving record costs $4 and is available online or at any BMV branch.

If your license is suspended and you drive anyway, that is a separate charge. Under IC 9-25-8, driving without proper financial liability documentation while suspended adds additional legal risk on top of the original violation. Check your license status at mybmv.com before driving if there is any question about your current standing.
